The manager of Porsche High Performance Cars, Andreas Preuninger was there to watch the delivery of the car. He is spending the last four years to develop this skunkworks style project. Preuninger said that he and the engineers who are also developing 997 GTw and GT3 RS has started this project while testing the original GT2 at Nurburgring. The design itself is inspired from the GT3 RS, with the power of the GT2. To make sure everything is right, the engineers from Porsche has spent 435,000 testing miles as well as the total engineering time of 80,000 hours. The result is that this car got &:18 lap time at the Nurburgring. This car was not designed to be Porsche’s money maker, but it is for exercise in supercar muscle flexing by Porsche.
